Introduction to screenings and check-ins

The TENNER Check-in app is all about screenings and check-ins. But what is the difference between a screening and a check-in? And, why did we separate them?

Screenings

Screenings are a set of questions that have been predefined by the venue to be answered by visitors. Before a visitor can check into a venue, they need to submit the venue’s screening.

There are two types of screening questions – health screening questions and non-health screening questions.

Health screening questions are checking for potential indicators of covid. If the questions indicate a possibility of the visitor having covid, the screening discreetly tells the visitor thy have failed the screening and can not check in to the venue. An example of health screening questions would be symptom checks.

Non-health screening questions are only for the purpose of information gathering and bare no consequence if answered in a particular way. An example of non-health screening questions would be contact information.

When a visitor lands on your landing page, either through scanning the venue QR code or following your landing page link, the TENNER Agent will take the visitor through the screening, check for covid indicators, collect the required information and grant or deny access to the venue. This can all be done before a visit or upon arrival, but always before check-in.

Check-ins

Check-ins are simply a timestamp of when a visitor has officially arrived at a venue. Upon check-in the TENNER Agent checks that the visitor has submitted and passed the screening before recording the time to check them in.

Why seperate them?

We saw this happen in the airline industry. Airlines worked out it was far more efficient to collect passenger information ahead of their arrival at the airport. When you arrive at the airport, you drop off your bag and head straight to security. All the passport, ticket printing, etc, was done the night before. Unfortunately for this analogy, what we would call a screening (information collection ahead of a venue arrival), the airlines have called a check-in. But the concept still stands.

For venues that need to collect information from visitors, the more you can collect prior to the visit, the faster and fewer resources are needed when the visitors arrive.

During the pandemic, screenings also give the venue the ability to screen visitors for symptoms beforehand, saving the visitor the trip and the venue hassle of a visitor with covid symptoms.

Screenings are a powerful way to improve check-in times, reduce ques and gather visitor information.
